Auto-Suggestion – Lucid Dreaming Technique

Auto-suggestion is a lucid dreaming technique that is very similar to the mnemonic induced lucid dream (MILD). The Auto-suggestion technique is the simplest way to begin lucid dreaming. People that are sensitive to hypnosis will have a high success rate with this lucid dreaming technique. If you regularly practice any form of meditation or have in the past you may also find this lucid dreaming technique highly rewarding. Listed below are the steps required to have a successful Auto-suggestion induced lucid dream.

  1. Before you go to sleep, suggest to yourself that you will have a lucid dream that night or in the future.
  2. Do not put too much effort into the suggestion, instead it is recommended to genuinely expect that you will have a lucid dream.
  3. Create a mantra to say to yourself before you go to sleep. An example of an effective mantra is “I will become aware in my dreams tonight”.
  4. Remember, do not strain yourself when trying this technique. It is important to expect yourself to become aware in your dream like you would expect the sun to rise in the morning.

  3. Create a mantra to say to yourself before you go to sleep. An example of an effective mantra is “I will remember all of my dreams when I wake up in the morning”.
  4. Remember, do not strain yourself when trying this technique. It is important to expect yourself to remember all of your dreams in the morning like it is a regular habit that you take part in.
